ABOUT MUPI

Thurgood Marshall College Fund
is hosting its 10th Annual Member Universities Professional Institute (MUPI), bringing together Presidents, senior staff members, alumni officers, and students of 47 member TMCF college and universities as well as community leaders and industry professionals, to hear the latest best practices and business methodologies to advance the cause of public HBCUs.  MUPI aims to:
  • Provide professional development and training for the key decision makers of America's public HBCUs through workshops, plenary sessions, and affiliation forums
  • Bring together leaders from all departments of the 47 public HBCUs to share "best practices" and lessons learned
  • Foster mutually beneficial partnerships between the academic and corporate and government arenas
  • Provide an excellent opportunity for students interested in careers in Sales, STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to learn the key attributes and the necessary skills that will give them a competitive advantage in the global market place.

Held in Nashville, Tennessee, the MUPI conference enables select student participants to engage sales training sessions as well as in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) sessions.  Professional attendees from the Member colleges and universities attends executive workshops covering topics such as fundraising strategies, finance and investment, public relations and marketing.  Below is brief overview of 2010 MUPI Conference topics:

Up to $200 towards travel expenses

$129 per night plus 15.25% tax, $2.50 per night city tax and a $10 resort fee with 9.25% tax per night.
 
ATRIUM GARDEN VIEW
$179 per night plus 15.25% tax, $2.50 per night city tax and a $10 resort fee with 9.25% tax per night.
 
Rooms have been reserved from Friday, March 5th to Wednesday, March 10th.

STUDENTS

These unique programs will provide an excellent opportunity for students interested in careers in Sales and STEM careers to learn the key attributes and the necessary skills that will give them a competitive advantage in the global market place. Both programs (Sales Training and STEM seminars) will be facilitated by corporate sponsors. The focus of this conference is to give students valuable opportunities and the advantage to learn from experts in their respective fields. Students will also have the opportunity to network with numerous corporate professionals and gain a better understanding of the various opportunities available in their related majors.

All nominated candidates must submit a resume and be interviewed by a TMCF Recruiter. Interested students must meet the criteria below for their program of interest in order to be considered. 
TMCF General Criteria for MUPI student  programs:
  • Strong interest in one of the pertinent career fields (Sales, STEM)
  • All candidates must be in their Junior or Senior year
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, outgoing personality, competitive nature, ability to overcome obstacles, motivated
TMCF Sales Training Criteria:
  • Open to all majors
  • Minimum GPA: 2.7
  • Ability to build relationships
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Highlymotivated, self-starter, outgoing personality, competitive nature,ability to overcome obstacles, motivated by earnings potential
TMCF STEM Track Criteria:
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Must be pursuing a B.S or B.A in one of the following programs : Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
