TMCF Colleges and Universities
- TMCF has awarded more than $100 million in scholarships and programmatic support during its 22-year history.
- Cheyney University was established in 1827 and is the oldest of our 47 member schools.
- TMCF member schools offer more than 1,300 programs with 400 different majors.
- Business is the top major at TMCF member schools, with over 4,200 degrees conferred annually.
- TMCF is the only national organization that provides scholarships to students attending the nation's six public historically black law schools.
- Twenty-four universities work with their local school districts toward school reform.
- Howard University Law School is the number one producer of Doctorates in Law and Legal Studies.
- Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is one of only four minority medical schools in the U.S.
- Over 3,000 students will benefit from the TMCF Small Schools Initiative.
TMCF Scholarships and Programmatic Support
- TMCF has awarded more than $100 million in scholarships and programmatic support during its 22-year history.
- TMCF offers undergraduate, graduate and law school scholarships (more than 7,700 awarded to date).
- TMCF manages a general scholarship program, as well as restricted scholarships with corporate and foundation partners for industry-specific needs. Several restricted scholarships offer summer internship programs.
- Scholarships recipients must have and maintain at least a 3.00 GPA.
- TMCF produces and Annual Leadership Institute Recruitment Conference to enable students to bridge their academic achievements with necessary and meaningful skills for the workplace (more than 1,800 students have participated to date).
- In 2001, TMCF launched a capacity building partnership program with Indiana University's School of Philanthropy, funded by the Lilly Endowment benefiting Development & Alumni Officers at our member universities.
- TMCF hosts an Annual Member Universities Professional Institute and Exhibition to provide professional development training to faculty and administrators from the 47 Public HBCUs (more than 3,000 trained to date).
- Through the partnership with the Lilly Endowment Inc., over 600 Development executives have been certified in fundraising management by the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy.
- In 2003, TMCF, along with five member universities, began a partnership with The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to reform education at six high schools in rural and urban communities in four states (LA, MD, NC and TX)..

TMCF Highlights and Accomplishments
- TMCF member law schools graduate more than 56 percent of the African-American lawyers in America
- TMCF schools graduate more than 58 percent of the African-American public school teachers in the nation.
- Fifty-five (55) percent of TMCF member university graduates go on to enroll in professional and graduate schools.
- More than 2 million young people have graduated from TMCF member-school universities.
- Ninety-eight percent of TMCF scholarship recipients graduate.
- In 2004 TMCF launched, I'll Find A Way or Make One, written by Juan Williams and TMCF's President/CEO Dwayne Ashley, which became an Essence Bestseller.
Administration
- TMCF is governed by a national board of directors comprised corporate and community leaders.
- TMCF's national headquarters is located in New York and maintains a regional development office in Milwaukee and a Government Affairs office in Washington, DC.

- Thurgood Marshall, the first African American Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court was a graduate of Lincoln University (PA) and Howard Law School
- The late Ed Bradley, CBS news "60 minutes" correspondent was a graduate of Cheyney University
- Earl G. Graves, CEO, Publisher and Founder of Black Enterprise magazine graduated from Morgan State University
- Rev. Jesse Jackson, Former U.S. presidential candidate and civil rights leader graduated from North Carolina A & State University
