Nearly 50% of the almost 300,000 students attending TMCF member-schools (public Historically Black Colleges and Universities) are the first in their families to attend college. TMCF awards over 100 first-generation scholarships each year. TMCF is proud to announce that Coca-Cola will award 3 member-schools with first-generation scholarships!
The purpose of the first-generation scholarship is to educate, retain and graduate first-generation college students at TMCF member-schools. It is expected that the program will have a significant impact on the lives of students receiving Coca-Cola scholarships. The scholarship will fill a critical urgent need in financial aid, helping to ensure that students remain in school. It will also reward strong academic performance encouraging students to maintain and improve their academic skills due to the strict criteria necessary to receive and maintain the scholarship. The first-generation scholarships will be awarded to students attending Albany State University, Savannah State University, and Bowie State University. Each of the member-schools will receive $50,000 to provide four-year scholarships of $3,125 annually for four students.
