ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
The Leadership Institute & Recruitment Fair is the premier recruitment conference for public HBCU students. For the past decade, this four-day conference has given talented future leaders a unique professional development experience. A carefully selected group of students are brought together with some of the nation’s top executives for leadership training, career management, life skills, development and recruitment opportunities. One of the main components of the Leadership Institute is the Recruitment Fair, where students meet with over 60 companies and government agencies offering job and internship opportunities.
Surveys, student case studies, and feedback from conference sponsors reveal that the Leadership Institute is having a tremendous impact on our students. In addition to the conference, students have the opportunity to attend other events taking place during the weekend, including the 25thAnniversary Awards Gala.
INSTITUTE HIGHLIGHTS
Workshops
Mandatory professional and leadership development sessions provide a combination of concrete tools and valuable advice to help advance one's education and career. Students participate in interactive discussions and workshops designed to provide professional career strategies, skills, and guidance from experienced individuals in the corporate, education and government fields.
Networking Activities
There are many activities for informal and formal networking throughout the conference. Individualized networking activities include receptions, meal events, the recruitment fair and much more. This provides the students an opportunity to learn more about the companies and/or agencies that will be recruiting during the conference and vice-versa.
Keynote Addresses
Plenary and meal sessions feature keynote speeches by some of the nation's leading public speakers and corporate and government leaders. Keynote speakers inspire attendees by candidly sharing life stories, work experiences and tips on what it takes to survive in the real world.
Recruitment Fair
Come prepared and don't forget to bring your resume! Students are invited to explore internship and career opportunities with over 60 recruiters. Corporate and government agencies from across the country will be available to recruit conference participants for job placement, internships, fellowships, research positions and more. In addition, some recruiters will be interviewing and hiring on-site during the conference.
