The Civic Responsibility Conference (CRC) is a national program spearheaded by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s (TMCF) Government Affairs division designed to educate and empower HBCU students to use their knowledge of our Constitution to uphold its significance for every citizen.  Most importantly, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the Constitution’s design for democracy, and the rights of every citizen to bring concerns about the laws of our country before the three branches of our government.

TMCF plans to host its 6th CRC on Thursday, June 28, 2012.

In addition to the conference, twenty-four highly selected students from across the country will come to Washington, D.C. to participate in the foundation of the legislative process through an 8-week internship opportunity with a Member of Congress.  Throughout the program, students will be introduced to current public policy issues and people who work in the Federal Government who shape policy into law.  Furthermore, students will be able to discuss the impact that both TMCF and public HBCUs have made in their lives.

TMCF Member School students interested in the CRC and Internship Program must apply online, provide a writing sample, and be interviewed by a TMCF staff member.
